During summer 2020, I have been working to design a website for a “micro-nursery”, which opened in September 2020.

I have been asked to work on this project by the director of the micro-nursery, who used to be a lawyer and finally found her way into nursery managing with splendide ideas, and a great understanding of children and their very first education.

Process

• IDEATION

  Meeting with the client, in order to understand the needs and consider my options for intervention.
  As we decided to work together, I put forward the idea of working in an agile methodology to facilitate her decision making and to make sure that I matched her idea all along the design process.

• RESEARCH

  • MONITORING
    Have a look on what is being done today in terms of micro nursery, see the functionalities used, how to address parents of young children, etc; even about the platform for the conception of the website itself.

  • SELF APPRENTICESHIP
    What do parents need when addressing to micro-nursery for their children.

  • USER UNDERSTANDING
    As it a small project, I made a call for help to my colleagues at work to involve parents of young children who might be experiencing this nuresery search situation, or who have already experienced it. I have been asking for a large variety of users, in order to make sure I was focusing on the right target. This is the part I enjoy the most in my current situation of UX designer, to understand users’ needs and be as empathic as possible to find solutions. Sociology and psychology must be full time part of my UX designer’s role.

• CONCEPT AND ITERATION

  I made the conception of the website: I chose and presented to the client some Squarespace templates that I found suitable for the early childhood field. After agreement with the client, I designed all the interfaces of the website, exchanging with the client at every steps of the project.

• WIREFRAMES / PROTOTYPE

• USER TESTING

  I appealed to the users I had contacted at the beginning of the project, to get their feedback on the work done, in order to have their point of view as parents.

• FINAL PROPOSAL

  I got to the client for presentation and feedbacks
  I made the final proposition of the website and submit it finally to the client.

• My goal was of course to deliver a functional website that would meet her needs as a nursery director and the needs of the users, but also to educate her on how a platform like this works so that she can add and correct certain content as her project evolves without disrupting the general framework of the site.
